Hong Kong to be the Web 3.0 Center

I actually refer to this Yahoo! newspaper article in dated 12-November, 2010. Mr. Herman Lam, CEO of Cyberport Management Co. Ltd. (who is also the former GM of Microsoft HK Ltd.), mentions that Hong Kong may be the pioneer of Web 3.0 technology.

Supporting arguments are that Hong Kong has a well established network infrastructure, Hong Kong is an open market, ease of finding investors, etc. All these are true. In my opinion, however, Hong Kong people are quite slow in adapting to new technologies. Also, the local economy has more focus towards the financial sector, but not the other sectors. Creative sectors are often abandoned actually.

We should understand that new technologies (be it web technologies or not) can become useful only if people start to use it and realize its importance. Technology education will be the key.
